Memorial Day Weekend

This last week has been an eventful one for Tommy. Last Thursday was his last day of preschool for the summer. The kids all wore their swim suits and played outside in the water and ate popsicles all morning. Pretty good start to the day, right? After that, Will picked him up, took him out to lunch, and then they went golfing with PaPa and Uncle Jeremy. Tommy got a brand new set of real golf clubs a few weeks ago, and this was his first time out with them. He's got a great shot when he concentrates enough to actually make contact! Uncle Jer knows that first-hand after taking a direct hit to the back last week...oops! After work, I met the guys out on the course and then we all headed to the clubhouse for dinner.

On Saturday, the three of us packed up some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and (decaf!) iced tea and headed to the park for a picnic and a hike. It was a perfect day for sitting in the shade of the pavilion enjoying our sandwiches, listening to the wood thrushes sing, and meandering down a path through the woods.

Sunday night we headed to PaPa and Jean's for a cookout (forgot my camera so no pictures) and then Tommy spent the night over there with them. Monday morning, Will and I cleaned the house and got things ready for our first cookout here at the house. Our friends Travis and Sarah and their soon-to-be three-year-old Landon came over for an afternoon of playing in Tommy's little pool and steaks and hamburgers on the grill. The boys soon had an intense game going that I would probably call....let's-throw-the-ball-and-run-after-it-as-fast-as-we-can-and-then-jump-back-in-the-pool-a-million-times. So by the time dinner was just about ready, the pool and the boys were completely covered in grass. We took them in for a quick rinse in the tub before we ate. Aren't they cute in their towels?

A fun weekend was had by all! This weekend we've got a trip to the farmer's market and a picnic by the river in the plans. Can't believe it's June already! Seems like it was Christmas just yesterday, but now we're on to no school and flip flops and ice cream and 100 degrees and ohmygoodnessitwillbeaugustbeforeweknowit! Happy Thursday!
