Walkin' for a Cure

A few weekends ago, we rounded up the troups and headed downtown to participate in the Susan G. Komen Walk for The Cure. We pinned Gramma to our backs or our shorts or our strollers and set off on a three mile walk that took us through the city and over two big bridges. Tommy got to jump over cones, do some dancing, get and give a piggy back ride (poor pink bunny was tired from the start and had to ride in the stroller or on someone's back the whole way), and jog to the finish. Afterwards, he relaxed by rolling down a big hill with Chris. To celebrate our truimphant finish, we headed over to Bottoms Up for some pizza! We love you, Gramma!

More Easter Fun

The day after Mimi and Pa left, we headed down to Lunenburg for some more family fun. On the agenda for the day: lots of good food, a candy throw, an easter egg hunt (with a little help from Uncle Jer and Chris), bike rides, plenty of swinging, trying to knock Daddy out of the hammock, and then falling asleep in the car on the way home! Tommy LOVED riding the big bike up and down the driveway. Can't wait to see his face when he gets a big bike for his birthday next month!

Raised Beds and Easter Eggs

A few weeks ago, Mimi and Pa came down for a visit that turned out to be more of a work-for-stay than a mini-vacation. We got to work right away on the main project for the weekend: raised beds. Tommy was a HUGE help with the digging, shoveling, mulching and everything else we asked him to do. After the raised beds were made, we planted some new shrubs in front of the house. Bye bye ugly dying boxwoods! After all the work, we decided to have some fun and dye easter eggs.

I haven't taken a picture of the finished beds yet because I still need to plant my tomatoes (that Tommy and I picked up at Cotton Plains this weekend - pictures coming soon). As soon as they're in, I'll put up a picture. So far, Tommy and I have planted cucumbers, lettuce, peppers, beans, zucchini, basil, thyme, parsley, and chives. Can't wait to eat right out of the garden this summer!

Thanks again, Mom and Dad for helping us get the beds made and the new shrubs planted!

Paint and the Blue Van

Since we've had so much to do over the last several weeks, we enlisted Tommy's help in doing a little painting in our downstairs bedrooms and closets. You can see the hideous 'before' colors in the picture of Will and Tommy getting some more paint for the closet (that was the playroom...now the office) and in the one with all of our initials in the heart (that was the guest room/office...now our bedroom). Tommy got to pick out the office color - green, his favorite. And Will and I agreed on a blue for our room. You can see the finished product below. I think they did a fantastic job!

Also, we said a sad farewell to the old reliable blue van that finally gave out on us a couple months ago. Thanks, blue van, for getting Gramma and then us everywhere we needed to go. We donated it to a breast cancer society where it can be put to good use.

Green Eggs and Ham

For Christmas this year, Gramma gave Tommy a fantastic gift: tickets to see the Richmond Symphony perform Green Eggs and Ham. At this point, since he has SO many toys, we really enjoy giving Tommy experiences as gifts. This was perfect for our little music lover. Since we got there early, Tommy got to try out all the different string instruments, high-five the cat-in-the-hat, and make his own plate of green eggs and ham (out of construction paper, that is). Thanks, Steffy, for coming along! Just wish Gramma could have come, too.

Hopefully, by the time I get home today, our computer will be hooked up and ready to go! I currently have about 160 photos on my camera that need to be downloaded (or is it uploaded - I never know), so more updates are on the way. Stay tuned...
